Sinkholes in Garden or Driveway

A sinkhole or depression appearing in your garden, driveway, or patio is a serious warning sign of a collapsed drain beneath the surface. As a pipe collapses, the surrounding soil washes into the void, causing the ground above to subside.

What to Look For

• Depressions or dips appearing in the garden
• Paving or tarmac sinking on the driveway
• Cracks in patio slabs above drain runs
• Soft or spongy ground when walked on
• Visible voids or holes forming
• Cracking in nearby walls or foundations

How We Diagnose the Problem

We use CCTV surveys to inspect the drain beneath the affected area and ground-probing techniques to assess the extent of soil washout. This tells us exactly how much pipe has collapsed and how much ground needs to be stabilised.

How We Fix It

We excavate the collapsed section, remove damaged pipework, install new pipes, and backfill with compacted material to stabilise the ground. Surface reinstatement — whether grass, paving, or tarmac — is included in our service.
